Why does it have to be single core?

All audio cables (such as line cables, speaker cables, digital cables and headphone cables) should take away nothing and add nothing to or from the transmission signal, we at Acoustic Revive consider such a cable is the ultimate audio cable.
Based on this philosophy, we abandoned the preconceived idea to develop “Single core cable” which transmits a source signal accurately without any incidental sound.

Distortion generated by Straying Electric Current in twisted wire structure

Till now, most of cables on market are made from twisted thin wires.
The reason why twisted wire has been adopted till now is just because of its flexibility.
Flexible cable is easy to produce from a manufacturing point of view and is also easy for the users to handle it. That is why twisted wire has been used for a long time.

The twisted wire structure is unable to avoid Straying Electric Current(so called “Strand jump phenomenon”) which flies about between the twisted wires.
This Straying Electric Current generates incidental sound and distortion to make the sound muddy. You will clearly understand this fact when you compare our Single-core cable to the cable you currently use.

As the Straying Electric Current travels about in air and insulation material as a dielectric, it is not possible to avoid it even by using Litz wire structure(insulating each wire separately).

Thus, the only solution to avoid the Straying Electric Current is “Single-Core” structure.

Aiming for the ultimate cable development

There were several problems to be adressed regarding the Single-Core structure, for example, how to control resonance of the single-core conductor, how to achieve a flexibility with keeping a perfect shielding effect, and so on.
Then, without being taken by a single established concept of making a cable, we made developments jointly with the several makers specialized in many aspects and solved these problems one by one. Then we were able to begin commercial production.
The conductor has the most important influence on sound quality. We adopted PCOCC-A which is the annealed version of a single crystal high purity anoxia copper, and by making it oval in structure, we could eliminate resonances peculiar to this material.
Teflon-coated copper tube for shielding, natural silk tube to make air layer around the conductor, screw-fixing type connector to avoid sound quality deterioration by soldering, all these are the result of our thorough attention to vibration control and conductivity.

In this way, we developed all parts from the beginning towards the realization of the Single-Core Cable.

Single-core cable realizes clear signal transmission without distortion which is on a different level from twisted wire types.
Single core has an excellent global reputation. It is widely used in recording studios mastering studios and major labels.

Single-core cable also has won several prizes by overseas and domestic prominent audio magazines.

What is PCOCC-A

PCOCC-A used for Single-core cable is an annealed version of PCOCC (mono crystalline high purity OFC) that was devised by Dr. Atsumi Ohno, Professors emeritus of Chiba Institute of Technology in Japan.
The annealing process is necessary for any material to be used as an audio cable. These materials are affected by this process, introducing unwanted impurities into the crystal grain structure.
PCOCC originally does not have crystal grain, and so there is no possibility of impurities being introduced during the process. It maintains its high purity even after the annealing process converts it to PCOCC-A. The crystal structure gives the best conditions for uniform directionality.
PCOCC is a hard material due to mono crystal structure, but once it is annealed and converted to PCOCC-A, conductivity improves and the material itself becomes flexible making it easy to use.

Development of Oval-shaped PCOCC-A

We, with the cooperation of Furukawa Electric Co, became the first in the world to make PCOCC-A conductor with an elliptical form(Oval shape).
As a Single-core wire does not generate Straying Electric Current, a flat transmission of the signal up to EHF zone can be achieved, however, on the other hand, Single-core is prone to resonance.

We, with a technology of Furukawa Electric Co, molded it in oval-shape to eliminate its resonance point and have also succeeded in eliminating the resonance peak.
